Oracle Cloud Migration OCI – Hybrid Services

Migration of on-premises environments to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Hybrid cloud with focus on security, stability, and application availability.

On-premises to cloud migration

Migrating enterprise systems from on-premises infrastructure to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is not just a technical task. It is a strategic decision with direct impact on security, application availability, operational costs, and development speed.

There is no universal recipe for migration. Each system has specific requirements for compliance, performance, latency, and integration with existing components. That is why we approach every project individually and design architecture that respects real constraints and opportunities.

Our focus areas

Security and data protection

Sensitive data subject to compliance stays where it belongs. In a hybrid model, this means the backend with all regulated data remains in the company's controlled environment, while the cloud frontend works only with defined functions. VPN connectivity ensures that communication between layers is encrypted and controlled. Learn more about our approach to data protection and GDPR compliance.

Availability and stability

Cloud infrastructure provides a level of availability that is expensive to achieve with on-premises solutions. OCI offers isolated environments (development, consolidation, production) with consistent configuration, eliminating "it works on my machine" problems.

Minimizing attack surface

The OCI frontend has only essential ports open. No unnecessary services, no legacy configurations. Access is managed at the security group and network security list level with least privilege principle. This is always complemented by a thorough security audit and penetration testing.

Hybrid cloud

Not every system belongs entirely in the cloud. Hybrid architecture allows placing individual application layers where it makes the most sense – from security, legislative, and performance perspectives. The backend often remains connected to existing database solutions that we manage and optimize.

Case Study

Java/JBoss application modernization to hybrid cloud

A client operated a critical enterprise application on a Java/JBoss stack in an on-premises environment. The application was stable, but developing new features was slow, infrastructure required a dedicated management team, and scaling was not flexible.

Solution

We designed and implemented a new architecture on a hybrid model:

  • Frontend on OCI – new application with three isolated environments (DEV, CONS, PROD), each with its own configuration and access rules
  • Backend on-premises – all data subject to compliance and internal regulations remained in client infrastructure under full control
  • VPN connectivity – secured communication between cloud and on-premises, encrypted tunnel with defined rules
  • Hardening – frontend has only essential ports open, no unnecessary services, regular configuration audits

Results after 12 months of operation

0
downtime incidents
-15%
cost vs. on-premises
3×
faster development
↑
higher security standards

Total operational costs decreased by 15% compared to the original on-premises solution. Development and deployment speed increased threefold thanks to isolated environments and automated deployment pipeline. End-user comfort improved significantly and IT infrastructure support costs decreased – while maintaining and raising security standards.

Our approach to migration

  • Existing environment analysis – audit of applications, dependencies, data flows, and compliance requirements
  • Target architecture design – deciding what goes to cloud, what stays on-premises, and how layers communicate
  • Phased implementation – DEV first, validation on CONS, production rollout with rollback plan
  • Hardening and security review – audit of ports, access, encryption, and monitoring
  • Operations and optimization – continuous monitoring, cost optimization, load-based scaling

Best suited for: organizations with existing on-premises systems that need modernization, higher availability, or more flexible development – without compromising on security and compliance.
